How do I save Slack chat history?
Export data from all channels and conversations
- Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click Organization settings.
- Click Security in the left sidebar, then select Exports.

How long does Slack store messages?

What happens after 10000 messages on Slack?
Members can send unlimited messages in Slack, but only the most recent 10,000 can be searched and viewed in your workspace. If your workspace exceeds the message visibility limit, members can continue to send messages, but older messages will be archived.
How often does Slack delete old messages?

Can deleted Slack messages be recovered?
Slack does not archive deleted messages or provide a way to recover deleted information. Once a user deletes a particular message, that message is gone forever. However, Slack may still retain information about deleted messages that can be included in an electronic discovery export.
Where does Slack save files?

Can I download a Slack channel message history without admin permission?
Yes. They have been allowed to see your messages using “the compliance export” before. But the process was quite complex and owners had to request the access to private conversations from Slack.
