Was Archer right about Shirou?
Identity. Archer is not a proper Heroic Spirit in the sense of other heroes. His true identity is that of Shirou Emiya of an alternate timeline from that of Fate/stay night who made a contract with the world and became the Heroic Spirit EMIYA.
Why does Archer give Shirou his arm?
In Heaven’s Feel, Archer again sacrifices himself to save everyone, and even saves Shirou’s life by giving him his arm. Which gives him power (and badass look) to get to the end of the war.
Why does Archer look different from Shirou?
Comparing to Shirou, Archer has white hair, gray eyes and tanned skin colour. His skin, hair and eye colors are different to his younger self due to the extensive use of projection magecraft that caused a rebound effect.

AFAIK Archer is a version of Shirou from a very specific timeline. He comes from one of the bad (arguably) ending of the third route of the visual novel, Heaven’s Feel (it’s the one where the main romance interest is Sakura). I don’t remember if this still stands in the anime adaptation
Why didn’t Archer put Rin in danger?
Archer had his head basically chopped off by Saber in Fate route, so he probably wasn’t exactly up to par to be doing anything to put Rin in danger, as he probably had a lot less magical energy in Fate than in UBW.
How did Shirou die in the anime?
How did Shirou die? Archer explicitly mentions in episode 19 or 20 that he was scapegoated by one of the people he saved, and was executed shortly thereafter. There is a scene in which a giant glowing ball absorbs Shirou (like some sort of pact), so I assume that’s when he became a Heroic Spirit too.
Why is Archer so bitter?
Archer is Shirou who came from a parallel universe and from the future. He lived his life almost like Shirou did but unfortunately he never got close to Saber, Rin or Sakura. He continued to believe his believings and that eventually saved many by killing many and thus when he realised it he became bitter.
