What do you call a person who believes in God but not in religion?
You can call yourself a “deist” – “believer in a God” Agnostic “A believer in that there is a god, but not any god that’s connected to a religion.”
Religious practice promotes the well-being of individuals, families, and the community. Religious worship also leads to a reduction in the incidence of domestic abuse, crime, substance abuse, and addiction. In addition, religious practice can increase physical and mental health, longevity, and education attainment.
What is your understanding of religion and spirituality?
Religion is a specific set of organised beliefs and practices, usually shared by a community or group. Spirituality is more of an individual practice and has to do with having a sense of peace and purpose. It also relates to the process of developing beliefs around the meaning of life and connection with others.
Are some people highly religious in all aspects?
Certainly, some people are highly religious in all three of the above aspects and some are not religious at all. In our study of young people in the United States ( The National Study of Youth and Religion ), we find that 20 percent are highly religious in all aspects and only five percent are not religious at all.
What is your religious identity?
For most people, religious identities are personal mixes of different aspects of religion with varying levels of priority. These distinctive profiles of religiousness deserve more consideration than quick placement on an over-simplified scale from low to high. *Names have been changed to protect the privacy of our research participants.
Does religion make you happier?
Perhaps it is not just the presence (versus absence) of religion in one’s life that leads to perceived happiness and health. It is possible that having a well articulated system of belief or meaning (whether religious or irreligious) also contributes to well-being.
Do people still believe in God?
Clearly the answer is — drum roll, please — yes. Many smart, reflective scientifically literate people obviously still do believe in god.
