Though his family didn’t have the means to travel outside of Bayonne, Martin began to develop a love of reading and writing at a very young age, which allowed him to imagine fantastical worlds beyond his New Jersey hometown.

Yes, George RR Martin is a good writer. My view is that he is strong at concepts, world building, character nuances, foreshadowing, and intricate detail (okay, as Alex Rook points out, maybe he can get too wrapped up in detail at times.
Is George Martin’s prose really that bad?
Whenever I see people criticizing another writer’s prose, they always pick on a couple bad sentences that stood out. Martin has those, too. But overall, GOT has a strong voice. His prose is vivid, clear, and does a fine job telling the story. Those of you who think GRRM’s prose is bad, why do you think that?
