Engineering is pretty good at UCSB; it’s much smaller in size than other engineering schools, which I personally enjoy because it’s easier to connect with professors and peers. All this being said, your experience will be less dependent on what the college is known for and more on what you make of it.

UCI is a suburban campus. It is a mix of on and off-campus students residents. UCI is still growing pretty rapidly as well. It has become noticeably more crowded than UCSB, at least to me. UCI is in the broader LA/Orange County area that gives students to a lot of opportunities and distractions.
