What is WMM in road construction?
Wet Mix Macadam (WMM)-Grading, testing and method of construction. Wet Mix Macadam construction is an improvement upon the conventional Wet Bound Macadam (WBM) and is intended to be as an alternative and more durable pavement layer in roads and highway works .
What is Bmbc road?
They have cited the need to adopt alternative technologies since even roads built using bituminous macadam bituminous concrete (BMBC) method are fast giving away in adverse weather. The rubberised bitumen minimises deformation due to overload on the road.
What is SDBM road?
AC means Asphalt concrete (commonly called asphalt, blacktop, or pavement in North America, and tarmac, SDBM Semi Dense Bitumen Macadam. A continuously graded material of a relatively low binder content (100 penetration). It has less resistance to fatigue cracking than other materials.
What is SDBC road?
Semi-dense Bituminous Concrete (SDBC) Roads that require a durable all-weather surface measuring 25-40 mm in thickness over previously prepared CRRI-BitChem Cold BM structure, with closed graded aggregates.
What material is WMM?
8. Materials used in the WBM are the stone aggregates, screenings and binder material(Stone dust with water) while in WMM material used are only stone aggregates and binders. 9. Quantity of the WBM is generally measured in cubic meters while that of the WMM in square meters.
Is Wmm a base course?
The base and sub-base course could be made up of bound or unbound granular layer. As per Indian specifications (MORT&H 2001), some examples of base or sub-base layers are: Granular sub-base(GSB), Water Bound Macadam (WBM), Wet Mix Macadam (WMM) etc. The binder course is made up bituminous material.
