How busy is the life of an IAS officer?
For IAS officers, a typical day is hectic considering all their duties and responsibilities. The life of an IAS officer also varies in different stages. Officers (at the district-level) work from about 9:00 am to 9:00-9:30 pm.
Can IAS fail in interview?
Any candidate has to clear all the three stages (Prelims, Mains, Interview) to get into the final Merit list. The marks obtained in the Mains and Interview are added and there is a fixed cut-off. If the total marks do not cross the cut-off marks, then the candidate is considered failed in UPSC Interview.
Do IAS officers travel a lot?
An IAS officer also has to continually travel within their district as a part of the job, which may involve going into undeveloped areas or areas affected by insurgencies etc. The social life of an IAS or IPS officer can become extremely limited during their early career.
How many hours IAS work in a day?
Generally, their working day starts from 9 a.m and ends at 5 p.m. Although, in reality, it can extend up to 9 p.m due to numerous IAS responsibilities. Their average working per week is around 70-75 hours.
