Why was Gil-galad High King?
Gil-galad, born Ereinion, was a Ñoldorin Elf and son to Fingon [note 1]. Gil-galad held the highest authority among the Elves he ruled and was respected by both the Ñoldor and the Sindar, thus being considered a “High King” of Elves in Middle-earth.
Did Isildur fight Sauron?
The decisive battle took place before Mordor, on the plains of Dagorlad. It was here when the Last Alliance destroyed Sauron’s main force.
