Can you heat transfer with regular ink?
Heat transfer printing is done using a specialist paper that is called transfer paper. You can use a standard inkjet or laser printer to print onto this paper with your normal inks. You then place the paper onto your clothing and use a heat press, or in some cases, you can use an iron, and peel away the paper.
Can you use regular printer ink on transfer paper?
Most types of Inkjet printers and inks would work with the transfer paper. You do not need to change anything or modify your printer in anyway. Any ink and any inkjet printer will allow you to transfer a personalized image onto a shirt, at home, using equipment you probably have already.
What ink will print on heat transfer paper?

Ink – there are a few different types of inks used in heat transfer printing to achieve different finishes. Inkjet ink is the most commonly used because it is the most affordable and accessible ink type. Pigment ink is also used for fade resistance and sublimation ink is used for dye sublimation printing.
Can I use regular ink on sublimation paper?
Sublimation paper is specifically made to lock in the gas that sublimated ink releases. Regular ink isn’t made to be compatible with sublimation paper, and will usually smear right off the page if you print using this paper.
Can I use any printer for heat transfer?
Yes, almost any normal inkjet printer will work fine with heat transfer paper, but you will get much nicer results from a printer with higher resolution and superior color capability, and it’s even better if it uses pigment based ink and will print onto larger surfaces.
What can I use as transfer paper?
Transfer paper hacks:
- Clear shelf paper instead of transfer paper.
- Painter tape makes great on fly transfer tape, and there is 60 yards on this roll!
- When in a pinch for transfer paper, use a roll of adhesive lint remover!
- Scotch tape can even be used as transfer tape for smaller transfers.
Can I use any inkjet printer for heat transfer?
Can you use inkjet ink on sublimation paper?
No. The sublimation paper can only be used with the sublimation ink and the sublimation printer. When for transfer ,It can also only be used with the heat press machine. The normal inkjet printer must not use the sublimation ink so of course the sublimation paper can not use with it.
Can you convert any printer to sublimation?
It is only possible to convert a tank-based printer to sublimation if it is completely brand-new and has not yet been filled with any other ink. Simply inject our Performance-D sublimation ink into your EcoTank printer using the provided syringes.
