Can Philips hue be used as a grow light?

Philips Hue lamps are impractical for use as grow lamps. Not enough output and at over €50 per bulb they are much more expensive per lux (lumens/m2) or PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation). The Hue draws 8 watts and has the equivalent light output as a 60w incandescent lamp.

Can indoor hue bulbs be used outdoors?

Just as long as the bulb is mounted in a moderately sheltered light fixture that protects it from rain, snow, hail, and other elements, then it’s fine to use a Philips Hue bulb outdoors. Just know that the bulb may not last as long as it could if it were used indoors in better conditions.
