Are Leica lenses better?
The Leica is usually superior, or at least as good, as the best from Nikon and Canon at the same price. When you also consider that the Leica weighs only a fraction as much as either camera or lens, it’s a no-brainer to see which is the best for outdoor photography.
Are Zeiss lenses really better?
Yes, indeed. And in this respect, Zeiss lenses really show high-end performance. On the other hand, these lenses also show some weaknesses – the most obvious being the lenses’ measured sharpness. So although these lenses are masterpieces of build quality, their results may not always be as good as expected.

What is your favorite Zeiss lens?
My personal favorite among the Zeiss lenses is the 200/3.5, I would rather sell my M bodies than this lens. Too contrasty is a personal opinion and depends very much on the film one uses. On Astia / Provia the Zeiss lenses have alot less contrast and saturation than my Leica M lenses on Velvia.
Are Leica lenses really the best?
Leica lenses are generally thought to be the best but it doesn’t mean they’re all equally stellar. Furthermore, even the build quality Leica is famous for can vary, the new Summarit “economy” lenses (economy being a relative term, after all it’s still Leica) have gathered some criticism for not being built as solid as the other Leica lenses.
How much does a Leica your lens cost?
Unfortunately, Leice R lenses are up to 8 times more expensive than their C/Y equivalents – while Summilux 50/1.4 costs $2300, C/Y Planar 50/1.4 is $300. Sparkie, I currently have the Leica 21-35mm f/3.5-4, 35-70mm f/4 and an Angenieux 70-210mm f/3.4.
