IPF is the imaginary figure that’s awarded to you for the achievements in the previous year & Rating is the actual figure slapped to you owing to the so called “bell curve” & “curve fitting” approach taken by the management to fool you. What is the band number in TCS for final rating?
At the end of each financial year in TCS you will receive final rating. (Band A=5,B=4,C=3,D=2). There is final process of fitting the band.
Will my IPF be 3 or 4?
Good to know that you got IPF as 3.55. But whether that will be converted to 3 or 4 depends upon your manager. If you have done good work for the past few months and Manager has noticed it, then most probably it will be 4.
What is the band distribution for performance appraisal in TCS?
Today, we received our performance appraisal. All TCS employees were divided into five bands from A to E – A being the top rated and E being the bottom. Top 10\% associates get A, next 20\% B, next 30\% C, next 39\% D and bottom 1\% E. Band distribution motivates top 10\% and at least half of next 20\% (bottom half of 20\% who knew they did not deserve A).
