What cools the processor or CPU?
Cooling with Air In an air cooler, the heat is transferred from the IHS of the CPU, through the applied thermal paste, and into a conductive baseplate that is usually made from copper or aluminum. These pipes deliver the energy in the form of heat to the thin metal fins that make up the heatsink.
Do processors need cooling?
Generally, most CPUs on the higher end of the power spectrum don’t come with any sort of cooler. This is because they output so much heat (Your CPU’s TDP) that it would be a waste of resources to include a stock CPU cooler when you need to buy a beefy CPU cooler to run the CPU at acceptable temperatures.
Is liquid cooling necessary?
It isn’t necessary or mandatory by any means… depending on the CPU. If you’re going for any of the AMD FX-8xxx series, then yes… liquid cooling is a must because those CPUs run HOT. The only time you really want liquid cooling is if you’re planning on doing some OCing.
