How do you cover ICF walls?

Attach drywall or gypsum wallboard panels to interior exposed ICF walls using drywall screws. Cover the drywall or wallboard panels with 3 thin coats of joint compound, letting each coat dry for 24 hours before applying the next. Paint the walls 24 hours after applying the last coat of compound.

Can you nail into ICF?

For exterior finishes, ICFs work well with virtually any material. Any type of siding can be applied to ICF by screwing or nailing it directly to the embedded webs.

Do drywall anchors work in ICF?

Drywall is fastened to an Advantage ICF wall the same way as it would be in a wood frame house except that I recommend you use drywall screws rather than nails. When you screw it on make sure you hit one of the plastic webs or ties spaced at 8” on center for 6” ICF walls or 6” on center for 8” ICF walls.

How do you install drywall over Styrofoam insulation?

The most common way to hang drywall over rigid foam insulation is to glue and screw it into place.

1. Tape each seam with housewrap tape.

Install a 3/4-by-3-inch temporary hanging cleat horizontally on the wall at the height of the bottom of the cabinet. Drill pilot holes through the cleat with a 1/8-inch drill bit so they line up with every other furring strip. Drive 3-inch wood screws through the cleat and into the plastic strips.
