How do I get an internship at Mitacs?

Be in the 3rd or above of an undergraduate program, or combined undergraduate/ Master’s program to apply. You must have a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 semesters of undergraduate coursework remaining after you participate in your internship to be eligible.

Is Mitacs paid?

The institution is able to pay the intern a salary or stipend from the Mitacs grant. The student is able to commit to the project for the appropriate duration (Accelerate internships are four months and may be spread over up to six months to accommodate other commitments)

Is the Globalink Research Internship program competitive?

No. Globalink Research Internships are highly competitive. Students must apply during the call for student applications in the summer. If eligible for the program, students are further evaluated and shortlisted, and will go through the matching process. Only Mitacs can confirm matches.

How long do Mitacs internships in Canada last?

If selected, you will (and must) work for a period of 12 weeks in one of the Universities in Canada. MITACS internships are available in over 45 Canadian Universities and hence you have a good pool to choose from.
