Depending on the school and the type of dual degree that you are pursuing, usually the same institution offers both programs. However, at other schools, you may pursue your masters and PhD at two different universities that have a partnership agreement.

We recommend following the sequence of courses semester by semester as indicated in the PhD plan of study. To complete the program in 5 years, we recommend taking a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 courses per semester, including the summer, and to become involved in research early through your advisor.
