What is strip and split function in Python?

Split() function uses whitespace string as separator and removes the empty strings, so I think there is no use using strip() or rstrip() function to remove extra whitespace in head or tail.

What does split () mean in Python?

The Python split() method divides a string into a list. Values in the resultant list are separated based on a separator character. The separator is a whitespace by default.
