Whenever HDR is on, everything looks too bright and washed out. Even after changing gamma and hdr brightness settings. Does anyone else experience this? Yep, was literally about to write this post myself. Have PS5 with LG OLED and it looks super washed out.
Is the PS5 HDR game mode too dark?
Even the homepage or whatever of the PS5 looks kinda dark. LG HDR Game Mode too dark/dim. LG to correct this. This comes up all the time. You are not going to enjoy HDR unless you have a mid-upper to high end modern TV. 300 nits peak brightness and no local dimming just isn’t going to produce good HDR. You are better off disabling it.

If I open PS5 menu all the contrast comes back, but HDR in game definitely broken. Yes! Hdr is broken right now in Hitman 3 on ps5. Such a shame because hitman 1 and hitman 2 hdr looks great and I have those games imported in H3!
Why is HDR dimmed in game mode?
That’s from a few years back when LG released a firmware update for the B6/C6 OLEDs which dimmed HDR in Game Mode, and was later fixed with a subsequent firmware update. HDR is meant to be used in a dark room (5 nits of light). So most of the calibration settings you see online are for that. Think of how dark a movie theater gets.
