Not everyone gets placed. It is impossible for a batch of 400 students in an IIM to get placed in 3 days. The placements happen in 3 clusters. First is a diamond cluster: The highest paying top notch consulting firms and international offers comes in it. They recruit just 1\% of the batch.

The examination holds its importance due to the number of candidates participate. There are almost 2 Lakh candidates take the exam every year and more than 5000 seats are offered by the 20 IIMs currently functioning in India.
Are intelligent people considered as average in terms of admission to IIMs?
Well, in terms of IIMs and if we see the criteria of admission to IIMs, intelligent person is no more the one who has a good aptitude, but a person who has a strong academic profile. So, if you have a good aptitude but not so good academics, in contemporary era of IIM Selection Criteria, you may fall into the category of Average.
Is it difficult to get into IIM with an average academic background?
It will be difficult for someone with average academic background to get IIM B or A, but definitely not impossible. Try to secure exceptional percentile to negate average academic records. All the best!
Are there any IIMs that don’t require nerds to apply?
Surely, there are some IIMs that take into account excellent academic background both at school and college level. But there are other B-schools like IIM Lucknow that have put into place eligibility criteria that do not require their students be nerds.
