Can scrying be detected?
Yes, the Scrying sensor can be sensed with Detect Magic.
Can you Scry on someone you don’t know?
If you have no idea who the owner of the spellbook actually is, then Scrying is not possible. If the book instead makes mention of the spellbook’s owner on an inside page (and that name is not a nickname or pseudonym), then you can attempt to Scry on them.
How do you break a scrying spell?
Break Scrying: If you determine that you’re being scried, you can make a Spellcraft check (DC 30) to attempt to break the scrying. On a successful check, the scrying ends and the scryer may not target you with a Divination (Scrying) spell or similar effect for at least 24 hours.
Can Blindsight see scrying?
Blindsight can detect invisible objects. Blindsight doesn’t inform the creature about the nature of the spell. It merely detects that there is an object.
Can Detect Magic see invisibility?
Just black, darkness. Hope that makes sense. Detect magic won’t locate an invisible creature, you need to be able to see the creature or object. There is a spell specifically designed to find invisible creatures or objects, See Invisible 2nd level.
Does scrying work across planes?
You can teleport to a location you can see through scrying as long as that spot is no more than 30 feet from you and on the same plane (since that is the limit of misty step). Maybe if the portal is within 30 feet of you, but short of that there is no way to determine distance across planes.
What happens when you scry?
When you scry, you may put all the cards you look at back on top of your library, you may put all of those cards on the bottom of your library, or you may put some of those cards on top and the rest of them on the bottom. You choose how to order those cards no matter where you put them.
How do you protect against scrying?
The 5th-level Sor/Wiz spell Mordenkainen’s private sanctum [abjur] (PH 256-7) for 1 day prevents scrying in an impressively big area. This is what creatures use when they aren’t on the move. Conveniently, the effect can be made permanent using the 5th-level Sor/Wiz spell permanency [univ] (PH 259-60).
Does Blindsight see through fog?
Nothing in the blindsight rules allow it to see through a physical obstruction like fog.
Does Blindsight see through disguise self?
A creature with Blindsight should be able to see through Disguise Self, whereas they wouldn’t be able to see through Alter Self. However, seeing through it may only reveal a vague humanoid surrounded by a fuzzy aura.
Can you detect a curse with detect magic?
Detect magic works to detect magical effects. You would be able to tell the PC was under the effect of magic, but not that they were cursed per se. Dispel magic specifically only ends active spells. You would need remove curse to end a curse that is not a spell.
Can Eldritch sight see invisible?
In fact, both of those already do have mechanical options available to do so: The Eldritch Invocation Devil’s Sight is what allows you to see in magical darkness and the spell See Invisibility allows you to see invisible objects.
