Are IFoA exams open book?

With Open Book exams, IFoA implies that students will be able to access any learning materials for reference, be it, electronic, hardcopy or online through the internet.

Will Ifoa exams be online?

Since April 2020, candidates will have seen a change in their examination papers compared to previous years. This is because the impact of COVID-19 meant that the IFoA’s examinations were moved online instead of being held in traditional examination centres to meet a variety of government regulations .

Can I take the IFOA CS1 and CM1 exams as a non-member?

You can register and book IFoA CS1 and CM1 examinations as a non-member. If you would like to take an exam of the IFoA as a non-member you can take either the CS1 or CM1 exam. Before you can book your first IFoA exam as a non-member, you will need to register.

How can I join IFOA as a non-member?

Membership: You can appear for CT1 exam as a non-member with IFOA, and later apply for membership. For IAI, you need to clear Actuarial Common Entrance Test (ACET) before you can apply for membership and subsequently for the examinations. That’s it.

Can non-members take the CT1 or CT3 exam?

For the April 2018 exams, non-members were able to apply for either CT1 (Financial Mathematics) or CT3 (Probability and Mathematical Statistics). This gave non-members the option to complete the CT1 exam if they had been studying towards this; or to take CT3 which if passed will gain a CS1 in 2019.

What happens if I enter the IFOA exam late?

The IFoA cannot accept any late entries to the exam and if your application and payment/booking is not made by this time, you will not be able to sit in the exam session at that time. How much are the exams? The cost of the CM1/CS1 exams for non-members is £330.00* full rate and £200.00* reduced rate.
