What do the Seal teams specialize in?
Among the SEALs’ main functions are conducting small-unit special operation missions in maritime, jungle, urban, arctic, mountainous, and desert environments. SEALs are typically ordered to capture or to eliminate high level targets, or to gather intelligence behind enemy lines.
How many units are in a SEAL team?
There are eight SEAL teams. Each team eight operational platoons and a headquarters element. SEAL platoons consist of 16 SEALs — two officers and 14 enlisted men. A platoon is generally the largest operational element assigned to a mission.
How many Navy SEAL units are there?
There are 2,450 active duty SEALs, (just 1\% of all Navy personnel), and 600 active duty SWCC. These forces spearhead our global maritime security worldwide. NSW reserves number 325 SEALs, 125 SWCC, and 775 support personnel.
Out of about 1,000 candidates who start the Navy SEAL training program each year, only about 200-250 succeed. There are nine active-duty SEAL Teams stationed at more than 30 locations worldwide, so only top-notch individuals are accepted as a SEAL team member.
The odd-numbered Teams (1, 3, 5 and 7) work for Group ONE in Coronado, CA, and 2, 4, 8, and 10 for Group TWO in Little Creek, VA. A SEAL Team is commanded by a Navy Commander (O-5) and is composed of a HQS element and eight operational 16-man SEAL Platoons.

So basically you pass BUDs, join a SEAL team, go through the PST, get selected through an interview to continue into A and S, pass A and S, and then boom, you’re a member of SEAL Team 6. Sounds easy huh?
SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team ONE SDVT-1 is based in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It is commanded by a Navy Commander (O-5). SDVT-1 operates and maintains the only Advanced SEAL Delivery System (ASDS), three SEAL Delivery Vehicles (SDV), Dry Deck Shelter (DDS) Task Units, and a headquarters element.
