To calculate the GPA: Multiply the grade (A=5, B=4…) by the number of ECTS credits. Well, in the US, the GPA only goes to 4.0. A Norwegian range of 2.5–3.5 is equivalent to a US range of 1.67–2.66. Norway introduced its grading system in 2003, replacing the German system that was used previously.
