What is ATM ITM and OTM?
The moneyness of an option contract is a classification method wherein each option (strike) gets classified as either – In the money (ITM), At the money (ATM), or Out of the money (OTM) option. This classification helps the trader to decide which strike to trade, given a particular circumstance in the market.

Out of the money is also known as OTM, meaning an option has no intrinsic value, only extrinsic value. A call option is OTM if the underlying price is trading below the strike price of the call. An option can also be in the money or at the money. OTM options are less expensive than ITM or ATM options.

What happens to OTM?
If a put option expires out of the money (OTM), and you are a buyer of the put option, you will simply lose your amount which you have paid (premium) for buying the put option. Again, if you are a seller of the put option, you will get the full amount as a profit which you received for selling the option.
