How do I prepare for Linguistics Olympiad?
The best preparation possible is to attempt as many past problems as you can. Start with the samples if you’re new to IOL problems and when you’re ready take a stab at our past problems. If you’ve done all those and can’t get enough, the national olympiads below also keep archives of past problems.
How do I prepare for NACLO?
One of the best ways to prepare for NACLO is by completing practice problems. Problems from previous years can be found on the NACLO website. Practice 14 problems online or print out almost 200 more, plus solutions. Check out the NACLO Facebook page each week leading up to the competition for a featured problem!
How hard is NACLO?
If you are competing at a NACLO event, you should expect to face somewhere between 3-5 problems during the Open Round of the competition. If you advance to the Invitational Round, you can face 5-7 problems that will be more difficult than the questions you face in the Open Round.
What is Panini Linguistics Olympiad?
PLO is a <- fun , exciting , educational , challenging , puzzling , linguistic -> competition for students studying in grades 6th to 8th (Juniors) and 9th to 12th (Seniors). This competition helps foster problem solving, computational thinking and appreciation for the linguistic diversity and linguistics in general.
How long is Naclo?
The Open Round is typically three hours long, whereas the Invitational Round is typically four hours long. The judges have the authority to lengthen either competition in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

How to do well in the Olympiad?
