Do you need IOSH before Nebosh?
There are no entry requirements and no need to be an IOSH member to complete any IOSH course. Workplace safety is the responsibility of everyone, which is why there are qualifications available for people working in different organisational roles. You can find out more about our IOSH courses, below: IOSH Working Safely.
How long does IOSH certificate last?
three years
As a rule, once you have received an IOSH certificate from an in-person course or an IOSH Managing Safely e-learning course, it will never expire and will be valid indefinitely from the date of issue. However, IOSH requires certificate holders to attend a refresher course every three years.
How do I get IOSH after my name?
To qualify for this level of membership, you’ll need to have completed an IOSH-accredited degree level qualification. Check the list of accredited courses we accept for Graduate membership. As a Graduate Member, you can use the letters Grad IOSH after your name. All Graduates maintain a CPD record.
Should I Choose IOSH or NEBOSH for Health and safety?
Both IOSH and NEBOSH, as well as CSCS, COSHH and IIRSM, all provide quality courses on health and safety. Which one you decide to choose depends on your needs regarding specificity, your knowledge level, career goals and budget.
What is the difference between the NEBOSH General Certificate and iaiosh?
IOSH is the only chartered body for health and safety professionals. This means that, unlike NEBOSH, they offer a membership structure. The NEBOSH General Certificate is aimed at candidates who already have a career within the sector but want to move into health and safety management roles.
What are NEBOSH qualifications?
There are NEBOSH qualifications for all competency levels. They provide courses for non-health and safety personnel (the National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, for example, is a supplementary course for construction workers), and courses geared towards those pursuing a career in health and safety.
What is IOSH and what do they do?
They offer qualifications for all levels of competence, from employees who encounter risk during their work life to health and safety professionals at the top of their field. IOSH (like NEBOSH) do not actually provide training courses.
